Daddy, Daddy Sung to: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"

Daddy, daddy let me say
I love you in every way.
I love you for all you do.
I love you for being you.
Daddy, Daddy let me say
Have a happy Father's Day!

My Special Friend Sung to: "Yankee Doodle"

Daddy is my special friend,
The two of us are buddies.
I always like the things we do,
I'm thankful for my daddy.

A Day with Dad

My dad works in an office downtown,
And when he's home, he works all around.
He cleans up dishes and that job's hard;
Then he rakes up leaves and mows the front yard.
But Dad always finds some time for me,
And that's what makes a family.

Key Chains
Buy some wooden shapes from the craft store. I know Michaels has TONS and they are usually on sale for about 40 cents each. Pre-drill a hole in them. Have children paint, dry, shellac if desired. Add a keychain ring. Wrap for Father's Day!

Footprint Tie
This works very well for infants as their feet are nice and small. Dip child's feet in fabric paint and have them walk up (or down) a solid color tie.

Polka Dot Tie
Use bingo dabbers to create polka dots on a tie shape or a circle stamper in fabric paint to paint on a real tie. Print off one of the poems to wrap with the tie. Poems written by me (Ruth)!

Daddy and I have lots of fun
He's really a great guy
I like it most when he wears
His special polka dot tie!

Daddy has a special tie
It's neat as it can be
It's covered with some polka dots
And made for him by me!

Weather Rock
Have children create a hanging basket type holder for their rock with wool or twine. Find a smooth flat rock to sit in their holder. Have them print this poem to attach to the hanger or print it off on the computer.

You are now the proud owner of a Weather Rock. Please hang outside on a nail.
If your rock is wet it is raining.
If your rock is moving it is windy.
If your rock is warm it is sunny.
If your rock is white it is snowing.

Star Dad
Cut a star, cover with glue, and shake sparkles onit. Glue to a paper with the poem and frame it. You could add a photo of the child or a Dad and me photo if you wanted to.

Star Dad
I love you, Dad, and want you to know,
I feel your love wherever I go.
Whenever I've problems, you're there to assist,
The ways you have helped me would make quite a list.

Your wisdom and knowledge have shown me the way,
And I'm thankful for you as I live day by day.
I don't tell you enough how important you are,
In my universe you're a bright shining star.

First Father's Day
Print out the poem and add handprints or footprints to the paper then frame.

First Father's Day Poem
So this is your first Father's Day,
Your first one as a dad;
Get ready for surprises now,
The wildest you've ever had.

Just when you think you've got it down,
There's a new and different stage;
This little person changes a lot
With each fascinating age.

Being a dad takes all you've got;
Your heart and mind you'll invest;
It's the hardest job you'll ever have,
And the one you'll love the best.

Father's Day Feely Box
Place things that Dad might use in a feely box and have children guess the items through touch. Some ideas... play tools, bladeless razor, shaving brush, men's comb, etc.
