String of Leaves

Leafkins
Turn fallen leaves into aquick, simple art project. Place the leaves inside an old newspaper and press them under heavy books for a few days. Have kids select a leaf or two and glue them to a piece of art paper. Then draw heads, arms, and legs to create little leaf creatures— “leafkins.”

Fall Tree 1
Place a twig in clay and then into a plant pot. Have the children cut leaves from colored construction paper to decorate the Fall Tree. Discuss the leaf changes they see and why they are happening.

Fall Tree 2
Cut out a tree shape from brown construction paper and glue to a background paper. Have children add dabs of paint in fall colours all around the top of the tree. Cover with wax paper and then the children smoosh the paint. Remove wax paper and let dry.

Leaf Brush Painting
Gather leaves outside and tape to the end of a twig to make a leaf paintbrush. Use in the art center for painting.
