Creating Your Own Apple Tree Book
Stuffed Apples 1
Cut out large apple shapes from red, yellow, and/or green paper. Staple leaving the top open. Have the children
scrunch newspaper and stuff into their apple. Add a large brown stem to the center when stapling closed. Add a green
leaf to the stem which is a great place to add each child's name.
Stuffed Apples 2
Cut out large apple shapes from brown kraft paper. Have children paint 2 shapes red, yellow, and/or green.
Let dry. Staple leaving the top open. Have the children scrunch newspaper and stuff into their apple. Add a large
brown stem to the center when stapling closed. Add a green leaf to the stem which is a great place to add each child's name.
Paper Maché Apples
Blow up a water bomb balloon to the size of an apple. Cover with paper maché and let dry. Poke a small hole in the
top to pop balloon and remove. Paint red, yellow, or green. Let dry. Add a brown pipecleaner stem into the hole you
made to remove the balloon. Add a dab of glue so the stem will stay in place. Let dry and then add a felt leaf if desired.
Paper Maché Apples
Cut evenly spaced slits into a piece of construction paper leaving a 1" edge all around and between slits. Cut 1"
strips from brown/beige construction paper. Have children weave the strips through the slits. Once finished, add a
dab of glue wherever the papers meet to hold in place. Let dry. Fold up corners and staple. Add a handle.
Have children make the paper maché apples to place in their baskets (would make a great centerpiece!) or cut out paper apples to put in their baskets.
Apple Trees
Cut out a tree shape - have children colour or paint the tree. Then provide construction paper in red, yellow, and green to cut apples from to glue on their tree.
Apple Stamping
Cut an apple in half through the center so the star shows. Dip into paint and stamp onto paper.
Apple Lacing
Cut out a large apple shape from card paper. Have children colour their apple. Punch holes around the outside
for children to lace wool through.
Apple Shakers
Have each child paint the bottom side of 2 paper plates. Let dry. Turn right side up and place rice or popcorn
kernals in the center. Add a stem. Place glue all around the outside of the plate and place the other plate on top.
Let dry. Staple around the plates to reinforce. Children can add a leaf if they wish and enjoy making music while you
sing apple songs.
