*Cut and paste using travel books.

*Build a raft using popsicle sticks or twigs.

*Make a birch bark canoe, using toothpicks and construction paper for paddles.

Science

*Float and sink - add various items to a bucket and have children hypothesize whether they think the items will float or sink. Experiment with the objects.

*Give children a variety of floating tubs (plastic & tin foil) then have them add marbles (or small blocks) to see which one can float the longest before sinking - discuss why.

*Have children make a boat and see if it will float.

*Have sailboat races.

*Add bathing suits, towels, empty (prewashed) sunscreen bottles, and sunglasses.

*Cut an airplane shape from a styrofoam tray, cut a slit for wings, decorate with crayons, then add the wing in slit so that it is even on both sides of the plane (it will really fly).

*Make helicopters by folding paper into a small "t" shape and adding a paper clip (it will twirl like the blades of a helicopter when dropped from a good height).
