Block Area

  • Add trains and tracks to your block area.

Dramatic Play

  • Make a train: set up 4 chairs, leave space, set up a dining car (tables, chairs, menu, playfood, trays forserving), then set up 4 more chairs for the seating area.

    Clickity Clack, Clickity Clack
I'm a train chugging down the track
There is the station, what do I see
    Another boxcar waiting for me.

Another child attaches to the train and you keep going til all children (If you have a large group, choose a certain number of children to wait at the station - repeat if you wish or others can have their turn on another day) For the last verse, chant...

    Clickity clack, Clickity clack
I'm a train chugging down the track
There is the station, what do I see
A red caboose waiting for me!

Crafts

  • Cut and paste using travel books.
  • Build a raft using popsicle sticks or twigs.

My Bicycle

I have a little bicycle
I ride it to and fro
And when I see the big green light
I know it's time to go.
I have a little bicycle
I bought it at the shop
And when I see the big red light
I know it's time to stop!

The Train

This is a choo-choo train
Puffing down the track
Now it's going forward
Now it's going back
Now the bell is ringing
Now the whistle blows
What a lot of noise it makes
Everywhere it goes!

My Ship Sailed From China

My Ship sailed from China with a cargo of tea
All laden with treasures for you and for me
They brought me a fan, just imagine my bliss
When I found myself daily like this (fan self with one hand)
Like this, like this, like this.

(continue fanning with one hand) My Ship sailed from China with a cargo of tea
All laden with treasures for you and for me
They brought me a fan, just imagine my bliss
When I found myself daily like this (fan self with both hands)
Like this, like this, like this.

(continue fanning with both hands) My Ship sailed from China with a cargo of tea
All laden with treasures for you and for me
They brought me a fan, just imagine my bliss
When I found myself daily like this (fan self with both hands and one foot)
Like this, like this, like this.

(continue fanning with both hands and one foot) My Ship sailed from China with a cargo of tea
All laden with treasures for you and for me
They brought me a fan, just imagine my bliss
When I found myself daily like this (fan self with both hands AND both feet!)
Like this, like this, like this.

Tug Boat

(sung to:Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Little boat come out to sea
Chug, chug, chug, chug follow me
Pull big boats out in the bay
Other boats must pull away
Little boat come out to sea
Chug, chug, chug, chug follow me.

Fisherman's Ship

When I was one, I hurt my thumb
Going over the sea
I jumped aboard the fisherman's ship
And the Fisherman said to me...
Going over, going under
Stand at attention like a soldier
With a 1-2-3

When I was two, I tied my shoe
Going over the sea
I jumped aboard the fisherman's ship
And the Fisherman said to me...
Going over, going under
Stand at attention like a soldier
With a 1-2-3

When I was three, I hurt my knee, etc...

When I was four, I shut the door, etc...

When I was five, I learned to drive etc....
