Under the Sea

Decorations

1. We had our Little Mermaid party at the community pool which was very reasonable to rent for an hour. If you are going to do this, ensure that you have enough adult supervision that you are able to enjoy the experience too! We had 11 children and 17 adults and it was a HUGE success.
2.You can also set up a children's pool in the backyard if this is a summer party
3. If you are doing it indoors, hang blue streamers from the ceiling to create an underwater atmosphere
4.Set up a waterplay area (with or without actual water) and characters from the Little Mermaid

Games/Activities

Outdoor games:

1.Water limbo - use your hose for the limbo stick
2.Water balloon toss
3.Ursela ring toss game - throw rings on the octopus legs
4.Fish pond, wet sponge toss
5.Wet sponge toss
6.Water race - you will need 4 buckets (2 filled with water, 2 empty) and 2 identical sized soup ladels, divide the group into 2 teams, they fill their ladle and run to the empty pail and dump in the water then race back to hand off to the next team member - once everyone has gone, you measure the amount of water in the pails to see which team filled it up the most with water.

Indoor games:

1. Fish Pond
2. Ursela ring toss game
3. Scuttle's mixed up game - have a tray of objects from the movie, ie fork (dinglehopper) have the children write down the movie name for each object

Food

1. Tuna and Salmon pinwheels - mix with mayonaise, cut off crusts then butter 2 slice of bread (square bread works best) overlap slightly and press together to make one longer slice (you can get a loaf of bread sliced lengthwise at the bakery for this also) and spread with mixture, roll into a jellyroll and cut into pinwheels
2.Seaweed salad
3. The cake can be a either decorated with characters from the movie, or made into an under water grotto using plastic fish and green licorice for plants
