Apples

Crafts

*Apple Prints - cut apples in 1/2 so the 'star' in the core shows. Dip in paint and stamp onto paper.

*Apple Head Dolls - peel apples and cut a face (adult supervision required) into the apple. Dip the apple in lemon juice with 1 tablespoon salt added to it. Place the apple head on a spear or stick and let dry completely. Use whole cloves to poke into the apple head for eyes. Attach head to a plastic bottle. Decorate the bottle in fabric for clothes and use red paint for mouth if you wish.

*Apple Shapes - cut out apple shapes from white paper and have children colour or paint them.

*Apple Trees - provide construction paper for children to cut a tree shape from and to cut apples for the tree.

*Weave Baskets - Cut the inside of a piece of construction paper into strips lengthwise leaving an inch intact all around. Weave paper strips through the weaving mat template. When done, glue strips down. Let dry and then staple into a basket and add a handle. Children can make paper maché or cut out paper apples to put in their baskets.

*Stuffed Apples - Cut out large apple shapes from red, yellow, and/or green paper. Staple leaving the top open. Have the children scrunch newspaper and stuff into their apple. Add a large brown stem to the center when stapling closed. Add a green leaf to the stem which is a great place to add each child's name.

Two little apples smiled at me.

Down came the apples
Mmmmmm were they ever good!

10 Red Apples

Hanging on a tree
Then he picked one apple
And he gave it all to me
Leaving 9 red apples hanging on the tree.

9 red apples hanging on the tree
Then he picked one apple
And gave it all to me
Leaving 8 red apples hanging on the tree.

8 red apples... etc ... (continue until there are no apples left on the tree)
